Bio
Ryan Coleman is a Georgia native, tournament angler, and full-time professional guide on Lake Lanier, just north of Atlanta. Ryan has been a
tournament angler for over a quarter of a century, and has numerous wins to his credit, including a BASS Southern Open win on Lake Lanier back in 2006.
Ryan has been actively fishing Lanier for over 20 years, and has been guiding full-time since 1999 with over 2500 guide trips to his credit. Ryan is well-known for his open "ask anything" attitude and has helped many anglers improve their game on the water. Ryan is active on several internet forums and publicly posts fishing reports several times a week, sometimes daily, so you can count on him for the most recent bite information. He also conducts many seminars each year at tackle stores, local bass club meetings, boat shows, and many other events.
With his guide service, he welcomes tournament anglers and fishing rookies alike, and can accommodate corporate trips of any size with his network of professional guides. He will cater to whatever knowledge on which you want to concentrate:
Sonar use and interpretation
Map reading and locating fish
Finesse techniques
Tournament strategies
Ryan's home lake, Lake Lanier, is known for its very healthy population of big spotted bass. The 2010 FLW Championship was held there, and that event was won by Kevin Hawk of California by catching big spotted bass. Ryan is an expert in catching big spots, and anyone that knows spots knows that you have to get offshore and use a lot of light tackle finesse techniques--knowledge that Ryan has perfected over many years as a professional angler.
How good is he? In 2007, BASS Times called him "...probably the best dropshot angler in the country." Fishing in clear water for spotted bass is anything but easy, and for many years Ryan worked with SpotSticker bait-makers to design the "perfect" jigheads and hand-poured finesse worms. He has so much confidence in SpotSticker Baits that he bought the company in 2010 and is now running the company himself!
